In 2023, the concept art community is experiencing unprecedented layoffs and unemployment. Many talented artists, including industry veterans, are actively seeking opportunities.
Recognizing the challenges, The Artefact Community offers a supportive platform for concept artists and designers. Co-founded by James Nguyen and Timothee Mathon, this free community focuses on the business and financial aspects of the entertainment art industry—areas often overlooked but vital for career sustainability.

Your application form will be assessed along your portfolio and CV. Our admins will look into your overall professionalism, industry-ready portfolio and CV, your level of accountibility to yourself and others, and how consistent you are as a person compared to your portfolio and CV, thus allow your participation in the community.
Once this process is complete, we will notify you via email to guide you to an online sign-up, leading to our Discord-based community platform.

Firstly, we use all the info given in the application form to assess whether you are an ideal member of the commnuty. Secondly, we use your e-mail to contact you and track your subscription to the community. Thirdly, we use the portfolio and CV data to construct a member-access-only concept artist database so that other members can look for and recommend you for potential opportunities.

Here are the interaction guidelines:1. Only discussion, no argument.
2. Have active, critically thoughtful, curious and responsible questions, answers and comments.
3. Be as respectful, objective, constructive, goal-oriented, honest and actionable.
4. Have an ethical play-to-win mentality.
5. Be helpful, patient and civilized.
6. Provide feedback, alarm and concerns about the happenings in the community via community feedback.
6. No hot takes, tantrums, and emotional ranting, and politically extremist behaviors.
7. No data pollution.
8. No biases, only truth.
9. No spreading of negativity, anger and hate.
10. Do not spam, especically your heroes.

Don't be discouraged! We have pointed out exactly what you can improve upon in the e-mail. Once those criteria are fulfilled, you can totally join us! The Artefact Community can provide you perspectives beyond the technicality of the craft, but you have to show us that you have the craft fundamentally perpared for the industry: an industry-ready portfolio, an honest CV, and the right mindset.

The Artefact Community is initially funded and powered by Beyond Us Studios Pte Ltd. The community was proposed, supervised and co-developed by the studio's Creative Director and Concept Designer James Nguyen. the studio's mission with this initiation is to enrich concept artists and designers by getting them well-informed of the industry and forming clearer paths and visions for their careers.
